Engine and transmission
Engine and transmission work, including telling you when it is not worth it
Tune-ups, engine services, smog and emissions, and transmission work including u-joints, transfer cases and drive axles, plus vehicle inspections. Ten bays, ASE-certified technicians, and a free 12-month, 12,000-mile nationwide warranty.
Chapter 01
A tune-up is a set of measurements, not a product
A tune-up is not one part you can point to on a shelf. It is a set of checks, fluids, filters, and adjustments, each decided by what the vehicle actually measures at, not by a fixed list applied to every car that comes through the door regardless of mileage or condition.
That approach only works when the technician doing it is willing to say a given item does not need replacing yet. Our engine services follow the same rule the rest of this shop runs on: replace what is actually worn, not what would pad the invoice.

State inspection, smog and emissions in one visit
Vehicle inspections, smog checks, and emissions testing are three separate requirements that most owners would rather not make three separate trips for. We run them together where the vehicle qualifies, so one visit covers what the state actually requires instead of stretching it across a week of scheduling around a shop's availability.
This is routine, regular work for us, not a special service. Customers who have their vehicles inspected here regularly are usually the same ones who trust this shop with everything else, because the inspection findings are the same honest read as any other diagnosis.
Chapter 03
U-joints, transfer cases and drive axles
Transmission work covers more than the transmission housing itself. U-joints are the connection points along the driveshaft, and a worn one tends to announce itself as a clunk on acceleration or deceleration rather than a smooth failure. Transfer cases, on four-wheel and all-wheel-drive vehicles, split power between the front and rear axles, and a fault there can show up as odd noise or binding in turns.
Drive axles carry power out to the wheels themselves, and their protective boots can crack and tear with age, throwing grease onto the inside of the wheel well as a visible warning sign before the joint itself starts to fail. We check all three as part of transmission and driveline work, not as an afterthought once something has already broken.
When we tell you it is not worth the repair
This shop has run since 1995 on a reputation that gets repeated in nearly every review it earns: it is the shop that tells you when you do not need the work. That same honesty applies to the biggest decisions, not just the small ones. On an older vehicle, an engine or transmission repair can sometimes cost close to, or more than, what the vehicle is worth, and the honest answer is to say so plainly rather than sell the job anyway.
When the repair does make sense, it carries the same free 12-month, 12,000-mile nationwide warranty as everything else that leaves our ten bays, from ASE-certified technicians who would rather earn a customer's next thirty years than one invoice.
