What a Gulf Coast summer actually does to a car AC system
A car's air conditioner in this part of Texas does not get a season off. It runs close to constantly from April through October, cycling the compressor for hours a day in traffic that never really cools down even after dark. That kind of duty wears a system in ways a mild climate never would, and it usually shows up first as a small, steady loss of cold air rather than a sudden failure.
By the time someone notices the vents blowing warm at a stoplight, the system has often been losing ground for a while. Our ASE-certified technicians start with expert diagnostics rather than guessing, checking pressures, compressor engagement, and airflow before anything gets touched.

Finding the leak before we put refrigerant in it
A car AC system is a sealed loop under pressure, so refrigerant does not just disappear. It leaves through a fitting, a hose wall, or the evaporator core, slowly enough that the system can run weaker for a whole season before it quits outright. Recharging a system without finding where it is actually losing refrigerant just buys a few months before the same complaint comes back.
We trace the leak first, then decide what the job actually is. Sometimes that is a compressor replacement when the compressor itself has failed internally, sometimes it is a vent repair when the problem is airflow distribution rather than cooling capacity at all. Either way, the recharge happens last, after the system can actually hold it.
Chapter 03
The heater side nobody thinks about until December
A car's heater shares plumbing with the engine cooling system. Hot coolant routes through a small heater core behind the dash, and the blower motor pushes cabin air through it. When a blower motor is weak or dead, you get no heat even though the coolant side is working fine, because nothing is moving the air through the core.
It is easy to ignore a heater all summer and find out it is broken on the one cold morning it actually matters, usually with a foggy windshield and a defrost setting that will not clear it. Blower repairs and heater repairs are part of the same air conditioning and heating system, and we check both sides rather than treating them as unrelated.
